Chapter 4: The self and interaction - Self ("The individual's conscious, reflexive experience of a personal identity separate and distinct from other individuals." Page 104)
While Perry the platypus may be a normal platypus at one single moment in time, he breaks out of being the "normal pet platypus" and becomes a one of a kind, top secret, super agent spy AKA "Agent P".He does this to save the Tri-State area from the local villain, which creates a form of self knowledge, helping him to become a being different from the norms, while also breaking free from the guidelines that society has formed for him to follow.
Chapter 6: Deviance - Deterrence ("an approach to punishment that relies on the threat of harsh penalties to discourage people from committing crimes." Page 171)
Agent P has shown the action of deterrence every time he shows up at Dr. Doofenshmirtz's (the villain of the show) "evil laboratory". Every time Dr. Doofenshmirtz has an evil plan, Special Agent P. is there to save the day, threatening Dr. Doofenshmirtz with foiling his plan and destroying the evil project that Dr. Doofenshmirtz had been working on, to deter him from ruling or destroying the Tri-State area from a catastrophic event.
.
Chapter 8: Prejudice - An idea about the characteristics of a group that is applied to all members of that group and is unlikely to change regardless of the evidence against it.
People have a predetermined assumption that all platypi have to be boring aquatic mammals and that they can not be secret agent super heroes. Perry the Platypus is a typical platypus to his owners Phineas and Ferb because of their prejudice thoughts on him being a platypus, but he really is a secret agent super hero! Only those who are not prejudice against him as a platypus can believe that he can be what he wants like Dr. Doofenshmirtz sees him!
Chapter 10: Secular - Nonreligious; a secular society separates church and state and does not endorse any religion (Page 310)
(Sorry, but there is no easy way to bring any of these into a platypus)
He is a secret agent for the state, and does not bring religion into play in any instance. He is a platypus just there to do his job and that is it!
Chapter 12: Life at home - Family: A social group whose members are bound by a legal, biological, or emotional ties, or a combination of all three. (Page 353)
While Perry the platypus is not biologically related to Phineas and Ferb, he is their pet; Pets become apart of the family and he is missed when he is lost, loved when he is there, and they love him enough like he is family that they even have to punish him sometimes to protect him.
